The word blogging originated from combination of two words, “web” and “log”. The combination of the two words created the word weblog or blog.
Blog is where a person with little knowledge on computers, can write anything randomly from the thoughts he/she is experiencing, and share it with other people in the world who will read it and also share their thoughts by commenting on the blog. The type of information shared can range from, individual diaries, poems that the writer enjoys, photos, political campaigns, businesses and homework. All these are just a few of which a blog can be used for.
Blogging is the act of using the blog to post and share information over the internet, while the person who does these is called a blogger. Blogging in general has given a lot of users a wide variety services that was not freely and easily accessible. Some of the services include; free web hosting, a range of templates and also the ease provided during navigation through the process of registration. Blogging made the work of web publishing, graphic design and also coding simple, since it allows those who are computer illiterates to use the blogs without any skills on website development, design and coding.
With blogging, bloggers are no longer required to register their own domains and do all the process of hosting their websites. All that a blogger will have to do is, first sign up for an account, select a user name and finally a template that you will use. After doing all these steps you as the blogger will be ready to start the process of blogging in your new blog.
“Blogging” in this matter will not just be viewed as one of the technological advancements in the scientific world, rather, it is more of one main phenomenon that has helped a lot in the reshaping the way we as users access the internet and share information over the internet, throughout the whole world. Blogging has reshaped the way we interact and see ideas in the real world socially, economically and politically. It should be viewed as a human activity in the current information age, rather than being viewed as one of the advancements in the world of technology and innovations.
The world of blogs and blogging has grown massively in a very short period of time. This is a sign of how good the world of blogging was quickly accepted and integrated into the lives and style of sharing information over the internet, making the whole world a smaller ground where you can share information and thoughts fast and easily.
In the year 1999, the total estimated number of blogs in the whole world was around fifty. But this figure came to shock many when the estimation was conducted only five years later. The estimation showed that there were 2.4 million to 4.1 million blogs that were running. This made the corporations and other consulting firms, change their trends towards blogging as a way of doing businesses. In 2007 the number of blogs created had grown over 10 million.
