Blogging is all about producing quality content and growing your brand. There are millions blogs on the internet and thousands of new ones are going live every day. So what does your blog have that other blogs don’t? When it comes time for someone to visit your site and decide if they are going to come back again in the future or leave to never visit again… it all comes down to that first impression your blog and content gives to them.
A great way to improve the success of your blog is to build a brand and reputation around it. This is what I have been able to do with my blog at ZacJohnson.com. While building out the blog I’m able to expand my own personal brand reach, while also focusing on delivering quality content through the blog. Both of these work hand in hand.
Now let’s discuss three different ways you can start to build a better blog and reputation around your blog. To give you the best direction I will give you three different methods while also tell you how I am using each of these to grow our my own blog.
Put a Face and Personality with Your Blog
A blog is just a blog… but when you put a real person and experience behind it, then it has meaning. This means you should have a picture of yourself on your site, an about me page and be sure to focus some of the content on the site around your own life experiences. This is something I always make sure I do with the sites I run, even outside of ZacJohnson.com. My name has become my brand and by doing this with each of my major sites I can further influence my brand while also expanding my reach to new areas.
Get Out There and Engage with Your Audience
Engagement is everything when it comes to blogging. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, the internet was all about html and static web sites. The internet was a one sided relationship. Now everything has changed. Blogs and social media are giving everyone a voice. When people are leaving comments on your site and writing about it on the major social networks, you should be replying and leaving comments of your own as well. I always make sure to not only reply to comments on my own blog, but also on other top sites. This is a great way to get your name and picture out there to a whole new set of audiences outside of your own blog.
Create Content that Gets People Talking and Sharing
You have the personality, the engagement… and now you need the content. They say content is king, but not all content is created the same. There’s a good chance there are a ton of other blogs out there with the same content topics as yours. If you want to succeed then you are going to need to make sure yours is the best. It’s also important for your to create your own content, and not focus too much on writing content for other sites to get your name out there. One of the ways I’ve made my blog content stand out is by creating tutorials and guides for my audience, while offering them at no cost. At the end of the day it’s all about value, and that is what people are going to share with their friends and social networks as well.
Follow these tips and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to find success in blogging and building up your brand and reputation in the process.
