She stays with her partner, who is also her inspiration and the indispensable and irreplaceable problem solver of this website. Her grandmother taught her to stitch when she was six, so she tried to conjugate her love for designing with the one for crafts and embroidery, and this is how Cloudsfactory is born. She has designed a character, the Mini People that has become the trademark of Cloudsfactory, and then her first pattern, the parody of Alice in Wonderland, that more than a pattern, is a declaration of intent. And here is where the nerd part comes. She is specialized in turning any movie, TV series, cartoons and video games characters into little parodies cross stitch patterns, her closest American friend says “Cloudsfactorize”, and yes, they can cloudsfacotorize.

Frances L. Johnson Designs.

Frances L. Johnson began cross stitching in 1979. After mastering the basics of cross stitch and while studying art at the University of Hawaii, he began to design his own patterns. Surrounded by the natural and cultural beauty of the Islands, Hawaiian themes easily became the subjects of his work. When friends and coworkers began telling him they would purchase his designs if available in print, he decided to publish a few patterns and evaluate the response and this site existed for this reason. If you haven’t visited the Hawaiian Islands yet, his designs will give you a glimpse into the history of Hawaii and of the cultural and natural beauty that is so abundant there.
