Dog with a Blog and How to Start a Pet Blog of Your Own

Does your pet have a blog? If it doesn’t, it’s probably very sad — as many of the world’s cats, dogs and pets now have blogs of their own. Not only is it a great way to document the story of your pet and how much of a part of your life they’ve been, it will also give them somewhere to put all of that energy!

Speaking of dog blogs, one of the most popular ones out there is based on a famous television show that shares the same name… “Dog with a Blog“.

It features Stan, the amazing celebrity dog known as “Stan” from the Disney channel. The blog is told from Stan’s viewpoint (as one would expect on a blog), and it chronicles the daily life and times of a cute Border Collie mix dog with a brown patch over one eye.

Stan is very popular with his blog fan and TV fans and he likes to update people on what his days are like via his blog. You can see a photo of the cast below, with the dog of course. He will get a nice photo of his own below.

Dog with a Blog – Topics on Stan’s Blog

Some of the topics that readers will find on the Dog with a Blog include parenting tips for puppies, magic carpet rides, and more. The blog really appeals to children who like reading about the adventures of one of their favorite dogs that they can see on the Disney channel each week.

As you will notice in the site design below, it’s complimented with the nice Disney header and logo at the top of the page. Since “Dog with a Blog” is no longer an active running TV show, the blog isn’t actually updated anymore. This can be seen through the last post, which was titled “Thanks for Everything” and was posted almost two years ago. With the  Disney header and navigation menu at the top of the page, this will allow for users to find other new blogs and updated information on the site, while also browsing through previously published content on Stan’s blog.

What is the purpose of a dog blog?

Make no “bones” about it; a dog blog is very important! Well, we think that’s what Stan would say, anyway. In fact, he does! If you read his blog, you’ll learn all kinds of things about Stan’s life and family. It is entertaining and enlightening.

One post that is particularly touching is one entitled, “Thanks for everything.” It is a touching account of how all Stan ever really wanted was to be a part of a real family. In a sense, this is personification because it makes Stan have human-like thought processes. However, many argue that dogs do have at least some form of rational thought. So, we believe that Stan did want to be a part of a family!

Who doesn’t want to feel a sense of belonging?

Another endearing post is entitled, “Breakfast Burrito.” In this short but sweet post, Stan claims that he fixed breakfast composed of a breakfast burrito, eggs, ham, and bacon. The believability of the post is improved because of the list of foods that dogs love to eat.

In this post, “Board Games,” Stan talks about how he played a board game with the kids. He also claimed that he beat the kids at the game. Stan doesn’t offer any proof of his winnings but we’ll take his word for it.

In “Thanks for Everything,” Stan shares a bittersweet moment as he implies that it is his last post. It was dated September 25, 2015. This is the day the show was retired, the best that we can tell. The show by the same title, “Dog with a Blog” ran for 3 years (from 2012-2015). There is a video on YouTube of Stan, the dog that chronicles the end of the show and the blog that bore its name.

In the final part of the video (and the blog), Stan says, “Nothing means more to me at the end of the day than a hug from the people I love.”

A Blog is Forever

The sentimental ending to the unique Disney TV show will long be remembered by fans of “Dog with a Blog” for years to come. The great thing about a blog is that, while the TV show has ended, fans of the popular TV show can go back to Stan’s blog anytime and remember the episodes that were captured via Stan’s posts.

Even with the blog no longer being active and updated, there are still plenty of “Dog with a Blog” videos that can be found through a simple Google or YouTube video search. This will allow for fans of the show to still find value in both the blog and the episodes previously aired.

Power of the Printed Word

There’s something about the written word that lasts forever. While the world has converted almost 90% to the digital format, people still love books that are made of hard covers and paper. Even though people still watch TV, they can always go to YouTube or an online site and watch videos that they loved the “second time around.”

That’s why a blog is important to preserving ideas or memories. Much like a diary or journal, you can record anything that you do that you want to remember and record it in your blog for later reference.

If you want to start a pet blog, you could do the same thing. This would be a fun, creative activity for kids who have a pet that they would like to feature online. Whether you have a dog, a cat, a bird, or a kangaroo, there’s no reason why you can’t get their “voice” out to the masses. After all, animals read blogs, too, don’t they?

Even if they don’t, you can have a lot of fun creating and maintaining a pet blog.

If you don’t want to use “first person” from your pet’s viewpoint, you can still record some important milestones of your pet, such as when they were a puppy (or joey), or highlight special moments with your pet through the years.

As far as my cockatiel goes, I think he’s smart enough that he can run a blog by himself. He constantly tells me that he wants his own blog. Putting his picture on my Facebook behind my internet radio station microphone didn’t seem to be enough to satisfy his desire to be in show business. And, now that he has read “The Dog with a Blog,” posts, he seems more adamant than ever that he get his own blog right away.

And, you know, I think he’s smart enough to do it.
