Brian Snow - September 18, 2012

Great article John! I have had my site go down and it is not fun to hear from all your clients to tell you your site is down. Nice to see who ranks up there as the best.

Mitchell - September 18, 2012

Great info and glance at the blogging world! I expect the number of women bloggers to double within the next 2-3 years, if not more. There is some huge opportunity for them!

Natalie - September 18, 2012

Interesting Stats! 200 million is a ton of blogs. I currently use two of the top hosting companies. But looks like us girls need to increase our presence online! :)

Griffin - September 18, 2012

As a blogger who uses both WordPress and HostGator, I’m pretty shocked that there aren’t better options available given the maturity of the blogging market. The WordPress interface is primitive at best and Hostgator further confuses the issue requiring users to log into multiple urls with different credentials for various activities.

With 203+ million blogs out there and the level of useability that tech savvy users expect these days, it seems that there’s room for disruption in the blog production and hosting space.

Mendim - September 18, 2012

Hostgator is the best hosting compnay ever seen,i use it with many years and im so happy with them.

Zac Johnson - September 18, 2012

Excellent list and effort made on the infographic. I’m not surprised to see HostGator at the top of the list. Seeing GoDaddy at 18 is a surprise, but after their latest problems, I’m sure it will only continue to drop as more people transfer away.

Zhu - September 21, 2012

Great post. Hostgator is a leading company in the hosting industry and I just bought a package from them.

Gabor Hodos - September 22, 2012

These are very good hosting companies, I am not surprised about the list. We do our best to get listed in the TOP25 in the near future. I hope we can do it.

    John Rampton - September 25, 2012

I know you guys and a few others almost made the list. I believe you are in higher end niches as well. The blogging hosting niche is a lower end hosting niche.

Mary Wang - September 24, 2012

I have been using Hostgator for a long time. Their customer service is the best. However, there is only one thing I don’t like. For Baby plan, they do not offer auto backup service if your inodes is over 100K. It would be perfect if they do not have such limitation. Glad to know other available options.

    John Rampton - September 25, 2012

That would be really nice if they offered that, great tip. Hopefully they’ll read this an put that into action!

diditho - September 25, 2012

yup! Hostgator customer service is awesome!

    John Rampton - September 25, 2012

Glad you love it so much. Many people rave about their CS. I haven’t heard anything bad about them or most people on this list for that matter!

charles - September 25, 2012

These are definably not the best just the ones that have the most marketing. Most of these oversell, have slow connections, and outsourced support. Apposed to thousands of hosts that keep their support in the US, have premium connections, and keep their servers to a reasonable account limit. But ignorance is like cancer.

    John Rampton - September 25, 2012

These ARE however the ones that bloggers from around the world voted on! I will say that most of them on that list have their support in the US. You’re right though, some don’t because they aren’t located in the US.

Ratan - September 26, 2012

After switching between many web hosting companies, I found that HostGator is the best, great customer support and great services.

South Africa Jobs - September 27, 2012

I have been hosting my sites with hostgator for 3 years now. I started with a Shared account which worked well for me until my traffic grew rapidly. My site had to be suspended. However, i cant blame hostgator for that, you cant pay 9 dollars for a site with 50,000 page views a day. I shifted to thier VPS and finally Dedicated Server. I can now say that i have tested most of their products and i can conclude that they are simply the best

    John Rampton - September 27, 2012

We’re glad you have had good success with Hostgator. Most lower end hosting will only last you so much. Once you start getting more traffic everyone will eventually have to switch to a VPS/Cloud or Dedicated Hosting model. Lots of great companies out there for that! In the future we’ll put together a post about that.

PJ Ta - October 4, 2012

I agree, this article is very true and had some great insight on the web hosts.

    John Rampton - October 4, 2012

Glad you liked it. We worked very hard to provide some great top hosting company results!

Taimoor - October 12, 2012

Wao! its great! And guess what? Unfortunately i’m using Godaddy hosting right now and planning to go for HostGator. 😀
I’m happy to see HostGator at the top of list.

Nikhil@Web Hosting Texas - November 3, 2012

I’m using hostgator for the past 4 years. I’m very happy with their service and support.

Joe Perri - November 5, 2012

I have used Bluehost and 1&1 Internet. Bluehost wasn’t so bad, but 1&1 wasn’t very good. I have had to use GoDaddy as well for clients and really dislike their interface. I am now with a company called A2 Hosting and am very happy with them.

rebellajones - November 15, 2012

Glad to read this article and looking forward for more like it.

Hassan Kamara - November 27, 2012

Hi I must agree that Hostgator is the best hosting service in the world. Absolutely blown away with their customer service, SERVER SPEED (On average it is 3X faster than my previous hosting company — absolutely insane), unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth (no additional fees whatsoever), CGI, PHP5, Curl, SSH, Python, Cron, Image Magick, Streaming Audio/Video & even free hotlink protection, ip deny manager & unlimited php/mysql databases. Did I forget to mention it comes with AWStats and Webalizer built into cPanel for top notch SEO?! And if you get the Business account it comes with a FREE Private SSL and Dedicated IP. With the other hosting companies you would be paying an arm and a leg for the same features. And here’s a bonus…

If you want a 25% DISCOUNT use the code 25SPECIALDEAL on the “Step 1: Choose a Domain” page at the bottom where it says “Enter a Coupon Code!” when you sign up for any web hosting plan :-)! Enjoy and tell your friends!
