Let’s say you have joined in with the large percentage of other internet users. You have created a blog to make extra income. You have created your fancy little site with bright colors, bold headings, and pretty pictures. You have posted ads everywhere you could possibly think of, and made sure you have chosen the right keywords to make your blog pop up first. You see that you have had some visitors but the numbers are just not picking up as steadily as you would like. You ask yourself why that is. I can give you a couple answers to that question.
Blogging for revenue is like becoming a salesperson. You brand your product, advertise, and network. You get a few customers and even sale some of the items but you will not be truly successful unless you remember this key piece of information. A salesperson does well, not only because they have hundreds of customers but because they keep those customers. You can think of blogging in the same light. It does not matter how amazing your blog looks or how much information you have if the information is not enticing. You don’t want to bore your visitors. Keep them entertained by making your blogs conversational, fun, and light. I am not saying that the appearance of your blog does not matter because it is definitely a huge factor. However, make sure your topics are up to par also.
Personally, I have a few blogs that I visit regularly and a couple of favorites that I visit daily. The ones that I visit daily are the ones that not only capture my attention through great pictures and perfect formatting but through a personal feel and a conversational tone. When I visit these sites, I know that I am not only going to get great information and reliable resources but I am going to have fun doing it. Successful blogs focus on all aspects of their site and keeping their visitors entertained is one very important one that a lot of blogs seem to miss.
Another imperative part of keeping visitors coming back to your blog is trust. You may be wondering how does that fit into having a successful blog? Well, the answer is quite simple. You can compare it to having a good friend that gives you advice. If your friend always gives you great advice and steers you in the right direction, you most likely will believe what that friend tells you the next time you need feedback.
However, if every time you get advice from this friend, you come up empty-handed and feeling like you shouldn’t have listened, you will not take their advice anymore. The same thing goes for a blog. You want to make sure that you know, without a shadow of a doubt that your information is accurate. This is why it is so very important to choose a subject that you either know much about from personal life experiences or have researched very thoroughly. This way your visitors will come to know that they can count on you for reliable and consistent information. If you show that you are trustworthy and keep your site entertaining and fun to read, you can’t go wrong.
