  • Post Title – This will be the title of the page and will be shown at the top of the page when posted
  • Post Content – The actual information that will be shown the page, whether it’s text or media. You can look at this in full coding mode, or you can look it as it will appear in visual mode

Once you get finished writing and preparing the page, you will be able to publish it for viewing by others – simply click the ‘Publish’ button as shown below.

After this, you will be able to check out the page as it will be shown on the website.

How to Add Images / Multimedia within Your Posts

As you might have noticed from the title above, this will show you how to make new pages/posts, and this will in turn give you all the help that you need in giving your readers and visitors something new and exciting to read about. This takes time and patience, though, and will typically require you to get things right in the form of ensuring your content is unique and interesting.

The best way to change a page up, though, and make sure that text stays engaging is to add in some media such as pictures or video. Doing this through WordPress is incredibly easy, after all, and to do so you only need to go through a simple list of procedures to get it done. To start off, click where you intend the media to go on-page.

Now, you want to click the button shown below as ‘Add Media’ and this will, in turn, take you to the upload feature that lets you put specific media onto the page. [image] Now, you also need to look at the ‘Insert Media’ pop-up page that is going to appear on-screen.

Simply hit the ‘Select Files’ button and this will give you the option to find files from your machine or network to upload.

Once you have chosen the file that you wish to upload and use on your website, your page will refresh itself quickly and give you the help that you need in seeing where the image will set in relation to the text that is on-page. Make sure that you fill in the sections highlights below, specifically the Alt tag; this is what will show up when people highlight over the image. This is typically good to be used as a primary keyword.

Next, you need to think about specific elements of the image and its appearance on-site such;

  • Alignment – Left, Centre, Right. This will give you the chance to move the image into a different part of the page but this can take a considerable amount of time to get right depending on the theme that you are using.
  • Link – If you click on the image will it take you anywhere? Do you want to be using the image as a link to another page or website?
  • Size – Choose the right size of the image corresponding with the page that it’s posted on

Once you enter this information, you will be prompted to add the image into your actual post. Simply click ‘Insert into Post’ and it will be added in like below;

Managing WordPress categories can be hard work and will usually require you to put in a lot of hard work to get it just right; they are, however, an incredibly powerful tool if you manage and use them correctly. They will help you organize your posts for easy discovery for users, as well as for a more organized website in the background.

You can even make child and parent categories so that pages can be added into subcategories. This makes it far more flexible than many other forms of website builder, as this feature is a coveted one that you usually need to build up manually.

Creating WordPress categories is incredibly simple, and you need to do is click on the ‘Posts > Categories’ section on the main WordPress dashboard once you log in.

Next, you want to go to the left side of the dashboard menu as shown, and you want to click on the ‘Add New Category’ option. This will help you create this new kind of content, ensuring that you can easily make sure that your menu is growing and expanding.

Now, you’ll have several editing changes to make – simply choose the category from the list of options as you would when just changing one page, and you should be able to make the adjustment in a matter of moments.

How to Manage WordPress Comments

Dealing with the comments side of WordPress is very important, because many people want to come in and leave their own opinion of your website and its contents. For each post you make, you can allow people to comment and speculate about what they think of the page, and indeed your opinions. It’s a very useful service to have available to you, but you need to manage it vigilantly and remove any spam that appears as you run the site. Moderating and securing that comments section on every post is vital to create authentic as well as give your business an authentic look and feel.

Depending on the way that you set up the comments section, it becomes a whole lot easier to manage and understand as a whole. One thing you need to understand, though, is pingbacks.

Pingbacks are hugely popular and will be used to help you notice when someone comments about or cites your work in any capacity. Once you get your Askimet key, you just need to go to WordPress and install the WordPress plug-in for Askimet. You can read about how to that HERE. Once it’s been activated, you will need to go and create an Askimet account. To do this, you need to press the blue button and this will appear above you in the table of installed plug-ins as shown in the above guide.

Once you log into your Askimet account, you simply need to click the ‘Use this Key’ button and include our Askimet key in the box.
