Site Review - The Real Housewives of Orange County Inspired by the soap operas Peyton Place and Desperate Housewives, and premiering in 2006, The Real Housewives of Orange County was the original ‘Real Housewives’. It would meet with much success, and lead to several ‘spin offs’ which would lead to the extremely successful franchise we know and love today. After 9 seasons, there is still no sign of a finale nor even slowing success. The Orange County Housewives The Real Housewives of Orange County focuses on the lives of affluent women living in this part of Southern California. While, as one might expect, the sun-soaked delights of the “Orange County life” is displayed, viewers are also treated to the dramatic and often traumatic side of the show, full of conflict and torn relationships, even divorce. Friendships are created and destroyed on the show, and the drama often extends outside of the show into interviews and other media coverage. Vicki Gunvalson is the only original housewife still remaining. Other current Orange County housewives would show up later in the show’s life. Other current OC Housewives include Tamra Judge, Heather Dubrow, Shannon Beador and Lizzie Rosvek. Jeana Keough, one of the original OC housewives is scheduled to make appearances in the show’s 10th season. These women and other cast members continue to provide us all with exciting twists, through pursuing endeavors, the balancing act of career and marriage/family life. Trouble in Paradise The RHOC cast provide quite an emotional roller coaster for its viewers. Whether it’s Heather Dubrow’s perceived condescension and aloofness, Vicki Gunvalson’s relationship with her daughter, or Tamra Barney’s ongoing familial woes, The Real Housewives of Orange County provides far more than the stereotype often leveled at “Orange County” would have your believe. There is little wonder why the show remains strong, so many years since its debut. Every installment of The Real Housewives is unique in its own right, and each brings its own flavor.
